The aim of our research project is to develop the EMBRYOAID application. Based on artificial intelligence algorithms, EMBRYOAID is capable of helping couples who have problems getting pregnant during IVF treatment.
HOW DOES IT WORK: EMBRYOAID helps fertility experts identify the most promising embryos based on a large collection of time-lapse images in order to increase the success rate of IVF cycles.

Prof. dr hab. n. med. Waldemar Kuczyński
Chief expert in embryology
One of the most experienced infertality experts in Poland. He was in the team that in 1987 led to the birth of the first child in Poland using the in vitro method. He still works in the Department of Gynaecology of the Clinical University Hospital in Bialystok. In addition, for 25 years, he leads his own private clinic – the Kriobank Matrimonial Infertility Treatment Centre. Ministerial expert in the field of infertility treatment with assisted reproduction techniques, cryopreservation of tissues and organs, as well as co-creator of the government program of infertility treatment using the in vitro method.
In his scientific work, from the very beginning, he focuses on topics related to human reproduction. Author of pioneering works on the treatment of infertility by in vitro fertilization (IVF-ET) and sperm microinsection into the cytocyte cytoplasm (ICSI), treatment of reproductive disorders in the disabled and HIV patients, as well as cryopreservation of human reproductive cells. Results of his researches have been awarded many times, inter alia by the Minister of Health and the Rector of AMB.
In years 2001-2008, the Chairman of the Fertility and Infertility Section of the Polish Gynaecological Society. Since 2006, he has been the National Regulator in the EACC (The European Assisted Conception Consortium) supervising the implementation of European law in the Member States of the European Union. Vice-President of the Polish Society of Reproductive Medicine. For years, he has been conducting clinical trials in the field of reproductive medicine as a principal investigator and national coordinator.

Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics and Medical Informatics of the Medical University of Bialystok. In 2008-2010, he was an assistant professor at the Institute of Computer Science in Białystok. In 1997-2008, an assistant in the Institute. In 1996-1998, he was an assistant at the Medical University of Bialystok in the Department of Public Health.
Dr. Milewski held the following functions:
Deputy Director of the Institute of Computer Science, University of Bialystok (2008-2010).
Chairman of the Faculty Committee for Curricula and Vocational Training, Medical University of Białystok (2012-2016).
Manager of postgraduate studies in English “Biostatistics”; applications of statistics in clinical medicine, biology, and public health, Medical University of Białystok (2013 – present).
Co-founder and coordinator of the first Polish Bachelor’s Degree in Biostatistics, Medical University of Bialystok (2018 – present).
Author of numerous biostatistical studies and studies in the field of Data-Mining and artificial intelligence; Author and co-author of over 170 peer-reviewed scientific papers and over 130 conference reports; Manager of 13 research projects carried out as part of statutory work at the Medical University of Bialystok.
